LONDON, England – 28th July, 2026 – Museums have an interesting way of slowing people down.

Visitors may arrive hoping to see an iconic dress or recognise a familiar photograph, yet quite often they leave talking about something they hadn’t expected at all. A name stitched onto a label. A designer they knew very little about. A story that quietly sat behind a moment remembered by millions.

The Princess & The Platypus Foundation says that is exactly why it continues to explore the people whose work helped shape Princess Diana’s wardrobe, including British fashion designer Tomasz Starzewski.

His designs formed part of Diana’s evolving style during an important period of her public life, adding another layer to the story visitors discover through the Foundation’s online museum collection.

“People naturally recognise Princess Diana first, and that’s completely understandable,” a spokesperson for the Foundation said. “What surprises many visitors is how curious they become about the designers once they begin reading those stories. It turns into a different kind of conversation, one that’s less about celebrity and more about creativity, craftsmanship and the people behind the garments.”

Rather than presenting clothing as standalone pieces, the Foundation places each designer within a broader historical context. The aim is to help visitors understand that every garment reflects creative decisions, skilled workmanship and the relationship between designer and wearer at that particular moment in time.

The Foundation believes this perspective encourages people to look beyond photographs they may have seen for years. A familiar outfit begins to reveal another story altogether, one that includes the vision of the designer as well as the woman who wore it.

Through its educational work, the Foundation continues documenting the designers connected to Princess Diana’s wardrobe so future visitors can explore not only what she wore, but also the individuals whose ideas and craftsmanship contributed to one of the most recognised royal wardrobes of the modern era.

Sometimes, the smallest museum labels end up opening the biggest conversations.
